We're getting close to our goal.
Well, there's less than six weeks left before we leave for Vietnam!
I'd like to say we've been working hard at training for the ride, but actually, we've both been so busy with work, travelling, being sick, getting through the holidays, and the weather's been cold and crappy, so we haven't been working at it at all. Hopefully that will change during the time left!
Each rider on this trip has committed to raise $5,000 to support Kids First's efforts to create educational and vocational opportunities for disadvantaged young people in Quang Tri Province. As of late December, we have raised over $8,500 towards this cause.
Frankly, it's amazing to see the outporing of generosity from our friends and families for this effort. We want to continue to thank each and every person who's contributed, and we'll look forward to sharing our stories of the ride and the great work that Kids First is doing in Vietnam both on this blog and in person when we return.
The deadline for contributions is February 1, so if anyone reading this is still intending to contribute, there's only a couple of weeks left. Though I do wonder what they'll do with contributions that come in after the deadline - seems like the money can be used any old time.
